    U.S. rig count increased by 1, is at 588

    U.S. rig count increased by 1, is at 588

    This week’s Baker Hughes Rig Count shows that the U.S. increased by 1 last week, resulting in a total count of 588 rigs. Canada increased by 15 over last week, resulting in a total Canadian count of 219 rigs.

    Breakdown by region

    Of the regions tracked by Baker Hughes, the Eagle Ford, Marcellus, and the Permian experienced an increase this week.

    Meanwhile, 2 regions experienced a decrease this week:

    • The Granite Wash is down 1,  at 20.
    • The Utica is down 1, at 11.

    Cana Woodford 20 0
    DJ-Niobrara 11 0
    Eagle Ford 49 2
    Granite Wash 20 -1

    Mississippian 0 0
    Permian 260 2
    Utica 11 -1
    Williston 27 0

    All other regions saw no net change in the active rig count.
