(Oil & Gas 360) – Publisher’s Note: Horizon Petroleum will present at EneCom Denver – The Energy Investment Conference at the Westin Downtown, August 17-19, 2026.  Register to attend.

(World Oil) – Horizon Petroleum has advanced its Lachowice gas development in southern Poland after executing a drilling and services contract for the re-entry, recompletion and production testing of the Lachowice-7 (L7) well and securing final regulatory approval to begin field operations.

The work will be carried out by Exalo Drilling S.A. at the company’s wholly owned Bielsko-Biała concession. Rig mobilization is scheduled to begin July 27, with field operations expected to commence around Aug. 1.

Horizon said the Polish Mining Authority has approved the L7 operational work program, completing the permitting process for the project. The company also confirmed that access road and wellsite construction, landowner agreements and financing have been completed, allowing the project to move into the operational phase.

The Lachowice-7 workover is designed to evaluate the long-term production potential of a naturally fractured Upper Devonian carbonate reservoir. Planned operations include removing existing suspension plugs, verifying wellbore integrity, reperforating the reservoir, conducting an acid stimulation treatment and performing a production flow test.

Subject to successful completion of the workover, stimulation and production testing are expected to begin in late August and continue into early September.

“Reaching the operational phase of the Lachowice project represents a significant milestone for Horizon,” said David Winter, CEO of Horizon Petroleum. “This production test is the first step in our phased development plan to convert this reserve potential into commercial production, targeting initial cash flow in early third-quarter 2027.”

According to the company, the Lachowice project currently contains NI 51-101-compliant 2P reserves of 34 Bcf, along with an additional 163 Bcf of risked 2C contingent resources. Horizon estimates the field contains more than 1.2 Tcf of gas in place and believes the project could become a significant new domestic source of natural gas for Poland if testing confirms commercial production rates.

The company said it will provide additional operational updates as the testing program progresses.
