“Yellowstone” fans who have been hankering after their very own Dutton Ranch but are reluctant to get their hands dirty on the land would do well to turn their attention to Colorado, where a modern marvel that combines all the best parts of ranch life with all the luxuries of a megamansion has recently been brought to the market.

Priced at $8.5 million, the 14-acre property at 41750 Highway 24 near Buena Vista delivers the kind of cinematic mountain views that you would expect from a Western, complete with towering peaks, rustic cabins, and endless river frontage.

“The outdoor amenities are unbeatable,” says listing agent Lawrence Hutton of LIV Sotheby’s International Realty. “The property sits on 2,500 feet of Arkansas River frontage with Gold Medal trout fishing. There are nine different structures on the property that can accommodate up to 21 guests.”

At first glance, the compound looks more like a movie set than a modern residence. Log cabins, A-frame-inspired dwellings, a lookout tower, expansive decks, and winding pathways dot the property. The setting feels like a private mountain village tucked into a little corner of the Rockies.

“This legacy estate is one that must be experienced to be fully understood. Combining award-winning architecture that blurs the line between art and real estate with an irreplaceable natural setting, it is truly unlike anything else on the market,” the listing notes.

Behind the rustic exteriors are surprisingly modern interiors characterized by vaulted ceilings, oversized windows, updated kitchens, and sleek finishes.

While the exterior of the home resembles that of an old-world military base—thanks in large part to the lookout tower that rises above the other structures on the compound—the interiors present a modern dream.

The use of pale wood throughout brings brightness, making the living spaces feel airy and light. The vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows found in several of the main living areas further enhance this effect, without sacrificing comfort or warmth.

“Perfectly suited for multi-generational living, large family retreats, or unforgettable gatherings, the estate somehow manages to feel both expansive and deeply intimate at the same time,” the listing goes on.

While the compound’s design is firmly rooted in Western aesthetics, other influences have been integrated into its design, adding a luxurious ambiance.

“Scandinavian, European, and historic mining influences are woven seamlessly throughout the architecture, creating an environment that is both rugged and refined,” the listing states.

The luxurious yet comfortable compound was designed by a “renowned architect,” whose family has owned it for the past five decades. They’ve “meticulously” maintained his original work, while adding modern upgrades.

“Its history and soul can be felt in every pathway, every hand-crafted detail, and every carefully framed view,” the description adds.

Remarkably, given its impressive architectural heritage, the compound design may actually have been outmatched by its spectacular surroundings, which offer a natural playground for visitors to enjoy.

“In addition to fishing, there are endless trails on the property for hiking, off-roading, and shooting, as well as access to a small horse facility for horseback riding on the property and adjoining trails and country roads,” says Hutton.

The location is within easy reach of some of Colorado’s most beloved adventure destinations. Whitewater rafting on the Arkansas River is practically in the backyard, while nearby Clear Creek Reservoir offers boating and paddleboarding.

Mount Elbert, which is the state’s highest peak, is a short drive away for hikers, and amateur prospectors can still try their luck panning for gold at local Cache Creek.

“Winter sports enthusiasts can spend the day skiing in Vail or Breckenridge, both about an hour away,” Hutton adds. “This was a place truly built for those who love the outdoors and all that Colorado has to offer.”
