(World Oil) – Louisiana lawmakers have unanimously endorsed the proposed Argent LNG export facility at Port Fourchon, advancing political support for the 25-MMtpa LNG project as it continues through the federal permitting process.

The Louisiana Legislature approved Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 6 with unanimous votes in both chambers, formally expressing support for development, construction and long-term operation of the proposed LNG export terminal.

The facility is planned for Port Fourchon, one of the Gulf Coast’s primary offshore energy logistics hubs and a key support base for Gulf of America offshore operations.

According to the resolution, the project is expected to represent one of the largest prospective private-sector investments in Louisiana in recent years and could generate thousands of construction jobs alongside broader economic activity tied to LNG exports and supporting infrastructure development.

Argent LNG said the facility remains in the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) permitting process.

“Port Fourchon is the backbone of America’s offshore energy industry, and it deserves a project worthy of its legacy,” said Louisiana Senator Michael “Big Mike” Fesi, who authored the resolution.

The resolution also highlighted the project’s expected use of technologies and systems supplied by companies including Baker Hughes, Honeywell, ABB and GTT.

Argent LNG Chairman and CEO Jonathan Bass said the company plans to prioritize Louisiana-based manufacturing, contracting and workforce participation as part of the project’s development strategy.

The proposal also aligns with broader Louisiana efforts to expand LNG export capacity and capitalize on continued global demand growth for U.S. natural gas exports.
