A dramatic diamond-shaped residence that serves up a feast for the eyes around every corner has just hit the market in Georgia for $799,000—complete with a jaw-dropping spiral staircase that appears to float in the air.

The Tom Mozen-designed architectural marvel is nestled in the East Cobb woods in Marietta, GA, and features an array of eye-catching features, including a suspended spiral staircase, geometric windows, and wood-beamed ceilings.

From the outside, the pointed property looks more like a living sculpture than it does a residential home, rising up from the surrounding woodland like an onyx gem.

Yet for those who live in the local area, Mozen’s unique design is, in fact, very much a part of the local landscape—having originally been built in 1976.

When it was completed, Mozen’s staircase, which is suspended from cables and looks, at first glance, like it is hovering in midair, became the stuff of legend, helping to inspire other similar dwellings in the area.

“Designed by architect Tom Mozen, this home is a rare opportunity to own a piece of local design history. The home showcases his iconic floating staircase—an eye-catching centerpiece that defines the space and set the tone for his influence on the neighborhood’s architectural style throughout the 1970s,” the listing notes.

“This staircase was Tom Mozen’s flagship design and he really influenced the whole neighborhood with his architectural style,” adds listing agent Caitlin Markli of Keller Williams Realty Metro Atlanta.

The stunning architectural retreat features a split-level layout with hardwood floors, glass walls, and multiple windows to capture the wooded views. In recent years, it has been offered as a short-term rental, one that has produced ample income, according to the listing agent.

“It has been used as a rental property and has been pretty much booked out every weekend,” Markli noted.

Built in the mid-1970s, the modernized residence was designed to create sun-soaked living spaces with clean lines offering a seamless flow throughout the open floor plan.

“The striking staircase anchors the interior, while large windows and intentional sight lines create a sense of connection between rooms and invite natural light throughout,” the listing states.

The iconic staircase leads up to an exclusive primary retreat in the trees complete with private access to the deck located in the fenced-in yard. Brazilian cherry hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, skylights, and a spa-inspired bathroom with oversized walk-in shower, soaking tub, and dual sink floating vanity can all be found on this level.

The sellers purchased the property for $340,000 in June 2025 and have made substantial improvements.Whitney Morris of Blue Dot Photos

The sellers purchased the property for $340,000 in June 2025 and have made substantial improvements and thoughtful updates since then, including adding on a new roof, updating the electrical panel, and installing a new water heater.

“They also updated the kitchen and the three bathrooms,” Markli noted.

A modern kitchen now features luxury quartz countertops, new appliances, custom cabinetry, and a breakfast bar. The nearby light-filled dining room has tree-lined views.

“I love the shape and integration of the deck and how it was designed to mimic the house,” Markli noted.

The listing agent admits that she hopes the home’s next steward will have a similar appreciation for its unique design—and help to maintain it for many more years to come.

“I hope the next buyer will be someone who loves the home and appreciates its style,” she shared.

The home is located on a cul-de-sac directly across the street from Pope High School in one of East Cobb’s most sought-after school districts.
