Sheinelle Jones Reveals She’s Moving, a Year After Husband Uche Ojeh’s Death

“Today” co-host Sheinelle Jones has revealed that she is moving out of the New York home she shared with late husband Uche Ojeh—admitting that she nearly threw out her wedding dress while packing up her longtime abode.

Jones, 48, who lost her husband to cancer in May 2025, lifted the lid on the moving process while chatting about her relocation with her “Today” co-host Jenna Bush Hager this week, explaining that she has spent a great deal of time sorting out the belongings that were stored in the basement of her Livingston Manor dwelling.

“I’m moving. The kids are going to a new school, so we’re moving. I have been going through boxes and boxes and boxes in our basement,” she said.

The “Today With Jenna & Sheinelle” star confessed that some of the items she found in the lower level of the dwelling have sat boxed up for the last 12 years, since the family relocated to New York from Philadelphia when she first landed a role with NBC.

As a result, Jones said she reached a stage where she wanted to toss everything that was still in a box because she didn’t want the hassle of going through everything—a decision that she U-turned on, thankfully, after her babysitter insisted they should check for valuable items.

While discussing the move with co-star Jenna Bush Hager, Jones admitted that she nearly threw out her wedding dress while packing up her longtime abode. NBC

“I started, after a while, not even wanting to look through boxes. I’m like, ‘Just throw it out. If I haven’t seen it in five years, just throw it out.’ And she’s like, ‘No, Sheinelle. We’ve got to go through everything.'”

Had her babysitter not insisted on a full inspection of the boxes, Jones admitted that she likely would have ended up throwing away the wedding dress she wore when she and Ojeh tied the knot in 2007 because the item was safely tucked away in a suitcase that she was planning to toss.

“[The babysitter] said, ‘Do you know where your wedding dress is? And I’m like, ‘No.’ I was like, ‘It might be at my mom’s.’ I just didn’t know where my wedding dress was,” Jones said. “So look what happened. I found this old suitcase and I unzipped it, and it was my wedding dress.”

Jones then shared a video of herself wearing a mask while pulling the strapless white dress out of the bag, before joking that—unlike many brides—she did little to try and ensure the gown remained in pristine condition.

“I remember everybody telling me that you’re supposed to get it preserved and I didn’t. Uche and I took pictures all over the streets of Philadelphia, so the bottom of it is all [dirty],” she said.

The mother of three admitted that, in the wake of her husband’s death, she now sees the dress very “differently,” explaining that she immediately though: “Oh my goodness, I never had it preserved. Is it too late?”

She joked that she wouldn’t be able to wear the dress again, however, teasing that it would perhaps “fit on my arm.”

And the dress was not the only very sentimental item that Jones came across during her clearout.

“I kept pretty much everything,” she said, revealing that she even found and saved the bumpers from her kids’ cribs.

“Well, those you need to get rid of. Tell me you didn’t keep the bumpers. Sheinelle! Of course you keep the things that are sentimental, but the baby bumpers?” Hager said.

Jones has not yet revealed where she and her family are moving to, nor has she shared whether she plans to list her Livingston Manor property, which she and Ojeh purchased for $725,000 in 2017. Realtor.com now estimates it is worth closer to $2.3 million.

The “Today” host previously revealed to Today.com that she fell in love with the home almost as soon as she saw it, pointing to its high ceilings, corner window, and hardwood floors as being among her favorite design features.

Records show that the 10-bedroom abode has yet to be put on the market and is still registered under Jones and her husband’s names.

The news of her move comes one month after she took to Instagram to reveal how she marked her 48th birthday on April 19, explaining that she had been away from her family home in New York and traveling on a book tour on the big day.

Sharing a series of images from her birthday party and her tour—which saw her traveling around multiple locations across the U.S.—Jones described the milestone as the “perfect moment” to update her fans on how she has been feeling since her husband died.

Since her husband died, Jones has been candid about her struggles in dealing with her grief, revealing in February how she had marked his first birthday after his death and admitting at the time that she had not expected the date to be as emotional as it was.

In an emotional interview with People, Jones previously lifted the lid on the misconception that she is doing better now that she is back on air, while revealing how she is helping her children—Kayin, 16, and twins Clara and Uche, 13—get through the pain of losing their dad.
