Whitney Leavitt has announced her exit from “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” after four seasons—having left her life in Utah behind to launch a new career on Broadway in New York City.
The 32-year-old revealed during her final performance of “Chicago” at the Ambassador Theatre that she will not return to the hit Hulu series, sharing the news while still in character as Roxie Hart.
Video footage obtained by TMZ shows Leavitt, who shares three children with her husband, Conner Leavitt, suddenly pivoting from the script to read a newspaper that was being held by one of her co-stars.
“What is that?” Leavitt said, pointing to the open paper. “Whitney … let me see. Whitney Leavitt announces she’s leaving ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.'”
Leavitt then turned around to the large crowd and opened her arms as the audience erupted in cheers.
Her representative later confirmed the news to Deadline.
Leavitt previously hinted at her departure while speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in March, telling the outlet, “I’m figuring it out in real time, but it feels like that’s the trajectory of where it’s going.”
However, the reality star noted that she was still in the process of solidifying her decision, admitting that she was somewhat reluctant to walk away from the show that had given her such an incredible platform.
“But again, I wouldn’t be where I am without it, but it feels like it’s time to challenge myself in other ways and fulfill these dreams and passions that I’ve been trying to get even before the show,” she shared.
Like several of her “Secret Lives” co-stars, Leavitt has quickly ascended to new levels of stardom since making her debut on the show, moving on to appear on “Dancing With the Stars,” before landing her first Broadway role not long after that series came to an end.
Leavitt has been a part of the show since it appeared in September 2024 alongside Taylor Frankie Paul, Jen Affleck, Jessi Draper, Demi Engemann, Mikayla Matthews, Mayci Neeley, and Layla Taylor.
Leavitt isn’t the only “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” cast member that is waving goodbye to the series, which recently resumed filming.
The show has been at the center of controversy, which has seen Paul and her former partner, Dakota Mortensen, wrapped up in a legal battle that temporarily halted filming on the show.
While Paul has not faced any charges in the spat, it was announced merely weeks ago that neither she nor Mortensen would be included in filming of the upcoming season.
A source told People that Paul “has the option” to return, however, decided against it. Still, the insider noted that Paul may make a guest appearance.
“She’s receiving strong support from the cast and producers but is focusing on her kids and mental health issues and recovery from an abusive relationship. She’s doing great and realizing how abusive her relationship actually was,” the source said.
Meanwhile, Hulu is looking ahead to the spinoff, “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County,” which Affleck recently revealed she will be joining—moving from the original Utah-based version to relocate to California.
Affleck’s announcement came just days after the streaming site announced the launch of the spinoff series, which will follow a group of “dynamic young mothers,” including Bobbi Althoff, Aspyn Ovard, Avery Woods, Salomé Andrea, McCall DaPron, Chandler Higginson, Ashleigh Pease, and Madison Fisher (née Bontempo).
Affleck became one of the standout stars on the series, which helped her to embrace many other opportunities, including an appearance on “Dancing With the Stars” alongside Leavitt. She relocated to California while filming the competition series and it seems she has now committed to life there with her husband, Zac, and their children, Nora, 4, Lucas, 2, and Penny, 9.
Interestingly, Affleck will be one of the only Mormons on the show.
Many of the other cast members, while located in Orange County, are not practicing members of the Mormon church, with reports noting that Althoff, Woods, and Ovard are not actively involved in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The logline for the spinoff reads, “A new group of dynamic young mothers in Orange County collide in a community where beliefs are not just their religion; they are their identity. While some defend their way of life, fighting against modernity, others embrace change, becoming a platform to disrupt the status quo.
“Scandals and secrets will be revealed, facades will crumble, and families and friendships will change forever on both sides of the battlefield as this group of strong, game-changing influencers comes together to build their answer to #MomTok. This is ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County.’”
Dapron, who is the sister of the original “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” star Mayci Neeley, revealed to her followers on April 22 that she had been keeping a “secret.”
Althoff shared the news on her Instagram page on April 22, branding it the “really good reality TV show.”
Althoff, 28, rose to social media fame in 2022 with her podcast—although she later shot to stardom after interviewing rapper Drake, a chat that sparked a wave of romance rumors that she has vehemently denied.
She later divorced her spouse, Cory Althoff, with whom she shares two daughters. She later dated Sean Murphy-Bunting and Ty Hawkins.
Meanwhile, Ovard was at the center of headlines in 2024 when she filed for divorce from her husband Parker Ferris, the same day she revealed the news of the birth of their third child. The online star had cultivated an enormous YouTube following with her daily vlogs in which she documented her life with Ferris and their daughters.
Ovard, who had been living in Utah with Ferris, then announced that she was relocating to California, where she purchased a stunning Newport Beach house for $4.65 million in July 2024.
Speaking about her new TV project on Instagram, Ovard gushed about the opportunity, writing: “15 years with you all and now we are going to be on Hulu 2026!!!!!!!!!!”
