Global insurance and reinsurance broker Aon has appointed Dan Tomlinson from Allianz Commercial as Head of Alternative Risk Transfer Solutions, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

aon-logoIn his new role, Tomlinson will work closely with Aon’s Commercial Risk & Reinsurance team to expand Aon’s alternative risk transfer (ART) capabilities and deliver a full spectrum of risk management products to the broker’s clients.

Tomlinson is a recognised leader in the parametric space, possessing years of experience in parametric risk transfer, as well as in weather derivatives transactions.

He brings over 30 years of global expertise in complex risk, and deep experience in a broad array of Alternative Risk Transfer methods, that includes risk and retention finance, multi-line multi-year aggregated cover and parametric products.

“His leadership will further strengthen Aon’s ability to deliver advanced risk capital solutions to clients.
This investment reflects Aon’s continued focus on bringing risk capital to life and helping our clients navigate an increasingly complex risk landscape,” Aon commented.

Tomlinson joins Aon following a nearly 14-year tenure at Allianz Commercial, where he most recently served as Head of ART – UK, Asia, Australia, Benelux & Nordics, and US Wholesale, a role he had served in since May 2019.

Within the role, Tomlinson spearheaded growth within Allianz Commercial’s ART portfolio through disciplined underwriting and innovative product offerings.

Prior to that, he spent over seven years serving as Managing Director – Alternative Risk Transfer, also at Allianz Commercial, where he led the development and execution of ART parametric pricing, portfolio management, and origination strategies.

Before he joined Allianz, Tomlinson spent five years as Managing Director, ART Parametric at Sirius International Insurance Group.

Tomlinson also previously spent some time working in various senior roles at XL Capital, weatherXchange, ICAP, and Deutsche Bank before that.
