iOS users in the U.S. can now have a back-and-forth dialogue with Redfin on-the-go to discover homes that best suit their preferences

Conversational home search is now available on the Redfin iOS app, bringing a more intuitive way to find homes directly to your phone. This feature, first introduced on Redfin.com and mobile web last November, lets users search for homes using natural, back-and-forth dialogue, refining results with simple language instead of traditional filters.

Early data show that conversational search is already helping people find homes that fit them through a deeper understanding of preferences that’s impossible with traditional filters. Half of conversational searches contain some form of a non-filter parameter, showcasing the value of back-and-forth dialogue. And, conversational search users favorite, tour and share homes ~60% more often than non-users, which tells us people are discovering better-suited homes.

Conversational search learns from every single user query, so the tool constantly grows in knowledge and improves in accuracy.

“We learn something new every day from how people use conversational search on the web, and those insights are constantly helping us improve the experience,” said Ariel Dos Santos, SVP of Product and Design at Redfin. “We see people asking very specific questions to zero in on homes that feel right for them—bringing them closer to finding their perfect home. Offering conversational search on iOS is a step toward expanding the future of home search to even more people, with a product that keeps getting smarter over time.”

One user said: “I was looking for homes that have two primary suites and couldn’t see how to do that with the existing filters, so I tried the AI search after exhausting text entries into the ‘other features’ section. The AI search gave great results for houses I had not seen before in my search!”

Today’s update means that iPhone users can enjoy conversational search directly in the Redfin iOS app, making it easier than ever to search while on-the-go, whether you’re near a neighborhood you love or browsing listings from the couch. The feature appears in the search bar on the app’s “Find Homes” homepage.

Conversational search is powered by Sierra and learns from real user interactions, delivering more tailored and relevant results over time. It sits alongside Redfin’s suite of AI innovations—from real-time home value estimates (Redfin Estimate) to personalized home recommendations—reinforcing Redfin’s commitment to make finding and buying a home smarter, fairer and more accessible.

To begin using conversational search on the iOS app:

    1. Update your Redfin iOS app to ensure conversational search is available. (If you don’t have the app yet, download it.)
    2. Tap the search bar at the top of the app’s “Find Homes” page.
    3. Tap “Search smarter, powered by AI.”
    4. Start typing what you want in a home—from broad desires to specific details.
    5. Chat with the tool to refine results and discover homes that better fit your needs.
