Zurich Insurance Group has appointed Megan Shao as chief claims officer for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, with effect from 1 February 2026.

Shao returns to Zurich after her tenure as head of claims, Asia at AXA XL.

She has accumulated more than 17 years of experience in claims management, including previous experience as head of financial lines & casualty claims for Asia-Pacific at Zurich Insurance.

In her new post, Shao will oversee claims operations across the APAC region.

She is tasked with leading claims strategies and working closely with regional teams to support efficiency and customer service in all lines of business.

Shao is proficient in English, Mandarin and Taiwanese, and is expected to focus on operational practices, team development and regional claims processes.

She will be based in Singapore and report to Zurich Insurance Asia-Pacific chief technical officer and Commercial Insurance head Sean Walker.

Walker said: “We are delighted to welcome Megan back to Zurich. Her experience, leadership and technical expertise will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our claims service to our customers across the region.”

In a separate development, Zurich Insurance Asia-Pacific has launched Zurich Edge Assist, a new module within its Zurich Edge Platform.

The tool was developed with input from agents and brokers and is intended to support sales, servicing, and claims teams and intermediaries.

Zurich Edge Assist functions as a single, unified platform for internal and external users, claiming to provide a one-stop solution with role-based access and customised functionality for each user.

“Zurich Insurance appoints new chief claims officer for Asia-Pacific ” was originally created and published by Life Insurance International, a GlobalData owned brand.
