Ingka Investments, a unit of Ikea franchisee Ingka Group, has acquired US-based logistics technology company Locus.

The financial terms of the deal have not been revealed.

Ikea believes that the deal strengthens its digital capabilities and will make shopping and delivery easier for its customers.

The Swedish home furnishing retailer has historically relied on several third-party providers for these services.

Locus provides an AI-driven logistics management platform with advanced route optimisation and real-time tracking.

Unifying these features will help Ingka Group to boost supply-chain efficiency, from capacity management and optimisation to last-mile execution.

The retailer further noted that the deal aligns with its goal to establish a quicker and smarter distribution network.

Online sales surged to 28% of Ikea’s retail sales in FY24, compared to 11% in FY19. The retailer states that the combination of Locus’s technology will help it meet this growth.

The move complements prior tech investments such as Made4net for warehouse management and TaskRabbit for furniture assembly.

Ikea Retail (Ingka Group) global chief digital officer Parag Parekh stated: “Our vision is to create a better everyday life for the many, and that includes delivering products when and how customers want them. This acquisition strengthens the digital capabilities required to meet rising customer expectations, while ensuring the quality and reliability IKEA is known for.”

In August 2025, Ingka Group announced a leadership change, with Juvencio Maeztu succeeding Jesper Brodin as CEO and president on 5 November 2025.

Maeztu, its deputy CEO, has a 25-year tenure with Ikea, while Brodin is stepping down after eight years as CEO and 30 years with the company.

“Ikea franchisee Ingka Group buys US logistics tech provider Locus” was originally created and published by Retail Insight Network, a GlobalData owned brand.
